Online Service URLs point to external servers where 69xx series IP phones can:
Download screen saver and branding application files (not supported on 6905 and 6910 IP Phones).
Connect to a MiCollab server to get user avatars (photos) for display on internal calls and to the Desktop Portal where the Desktop Tool is hosted.
Download configuration files for XML applications. The XML applications allow the 69xx phones to integrate with Mitel applications, such as:
MiCollab Meeting Center. For configuration information, refer to Appendix A MiCollab Meeting Center Configuration in the MiCollab Client Administrator Guide, Release 8.0 on Mitel Document Center.
Mitel Mass Notification. For configuration information, refer to the Mitel Mass Notification Installation, Administration, and Maintenance Guide, on Mitel InfoChannel.
Use of this form is optional. Except for Avatars, all of
these resources can reside on the phone's host MiVoice Business
system. Provisioning the internal resources is done using the Phone
Applications Update (
When using external servers it is the administrator's responsibility to ensure that the URLs and the resources they point to are kept in sync with the MiVoice Business system.
Avatars cannot be uploaded to the MiVoice Business system.
Avatars are supported for local calls (calls between devices registered to the same PBX) and intra-cluster calls (calls between PBXs in the same cluster) where the directory numbers are all unique. If a call is made to a device whose directory number is NOT unique, no avatar is displayed on the calling device.
For security reasons, never use public servers to distribute resources. Use only private servers on the same network as the MiVoice Business system.
